About
In Acts 10, we find the story of Cornelius, a Roman centurion who was a devout man feared God and had a good reputation. An angel of the Lord appeared to him and instructed him to send for Peter, a disciple of Jesus, who was staying in Joppa. At the same time, in Joppa, Peter had a vision in which he saw a sheet filled with unclean animals and was instructed to kill and eat them. Peter initially refused, believing that it was against Jewish dietary laws to consume unclean animals. However, a voice told Peter that he should not consider anything unclean that God had made clean. When Cornelius' men arrived, Peter went with them to visit Cornelius. Upon arrival, Peter preached the gospel to Cornelius' household and the Holy Spirit came upon them. This event marked a significant moment in the early Christian church as it showed that salvation was not limited to the Jews, but was also available to Gentiles.
