Stephen Akinmurel, a suspected British serial killer, targeted elderly people in the 1990s. He had a history of mental illness and began committing crimes against the elderly at a young age. Akinmurel's victims were all elderly and lived in quiet suburban areas, earning him the nickname 'the cul-de-sac killer.' He was arrested and charged with multiple murders, including the killing of his landlady and the Boardman family. Akinmurel confessed to additional killings, but nothing came of them.
