John 10 includes Jesus' teachings about himself as the Good Shepherd. He explains that he is the gate for the sheep, and those who enter through him will be saved. He emphasizes that his sheep know his voice and follow him, and that he is willing to lay down his life for them. He also speaks about how there are others who come to steal, kill and destroy, in contrast to his role as the protector and provider for his flock. The chapter ends with Jesus speaking about his unity with the Father and the works that he has done in his name.
