About
John 3 describes a conversation between a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish leader, and Jesus. Nicodemus acknowledges Jesus as a teacher from God and expresses his curiosity about Jesus' teachings. Jesus tells Nicodemus that in order to see the kingdom of God, one must be born again, born of water and the Spirit. He explains that this is not a physical rebirth, but a spiritual one. Nicodemus is puzzled by this and asks how it is possible. Jesus tells him that just as the wind cannot be seen or understood, so too is the Spirit. He also makes reference to his coming death on the cross, saying that all who believe in him will have eternal life.
