George Mary Claret Watch the Video It is very important to know the Meaning of the Sacraments to get the best out of it. Sacraments are efficacious signs instituted and handed over to the Church by Christ. The primary and fundamental Sacrament is none other than Jesus Christ Himself. God reveals this great mystery through St. Paul's Letter to the Colossians (1:15, 19-20):  "Jesus is the image of the invisible God...For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross." Catechism of the Catholic Church (No. 774a) introduces the Sacraments: "The Greek word mysterion was translated into Latin by two terms: mysterium and sacramentum. In later usage the term sacramentum emphasizes the visible sign of the hidden reality of salvation which was indicated by the term mysterium. In this sense, Christ himself is the mystery of salvation: "For there is no other mystery of God, except Christ."" Jesus, the ONLY real Sacrament instituted the Church and made her the Sacrament of Salvation. He also instituted the Seven Sacraments and handed them to the Church, His Mystical Body. Catechism of the Catholic Church (No. 774b) "The seven sacraments are the signs and instruments by which the Holy Spirit spreads the grace of Christ the head throughout the Church which is his Body. The Church, then, both contains and communicates the invisible grace she signifies. It is in this analogical sense, that the Church is called a "sacrament."" The Church has the responsibility to make Her Head present to the world. Are we doing it? Are YOU doing it?
