An ex-hitman-turned-minister with a direct line to the Almighty and a price on his head seeks redemption as the pastor of a small-town church, only to be blackmailed into moonlighting for a local crime boss. The Church of Mike is a crime-drama-with-a-streak-of-humor that frames religion, morality, and delusion in the land of God, Guns and Good ol’ Boys. However, there’s more at play here than just a riff on religion. Mike, our protagonist, struggles with questions deeper than which god to pray to. Questions that we often attempt to answer through religion: What’s our purpose? Why are we here?
