Hepatitis caused by a viral infection damages and inflames the liver. Hepatitis is brought on by a number of viruses, including hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E. Acute infections are frequently brought on by the hepatitis A and E viruses. Acute and chronic infections can be caused by the hepatitis B, C, and D viruses.
