Mohit Chauhan is a well-known Indi Pop singer for the band Silk Route. He is also known for his work as a playback singer for Bollywood movies. He is proficient in playing the guitar, saxophone, flute and harmonica. A singer of mushy romantic ballads, he says if he didn’t become a musician, he probably would have been a farmer.

2007: He took part in a singing reality show - Mission Ustaad on 9X & also in Music Ka Maha Muqqabla on STAR Plus.
Mohit also featured in the third episode of The Dewarists (2011). He jammed with band ‘Indian Ocean’ for the song called Maaya and also featured on MTV Unplugged (India) in 2011.
Chauhan has sung many advertisement jingles for products including Alpenliebe, Parachute, Wheel (detergent), Nescafe, Hippo Munchies, Vicks Vapor Rub, Alchemist Group & Maruti Suzuki Alto (2011). He has also sung the theme song for Star Parivaar Awards 2011. In 2013, he sang "Jad Se Judein" for the advertisement of L'Oreal Paris India.

Early Life
After attending St. Xaviers School in Delhi, Mohit Chauhan went back to Himachal Pradesh and completed his Masters in Science and Geology from Dharamshala College. Although he never received any formal training in music, he picked up singing, playing the guitar, harmonica and the flute on his own, and then came back to Delhi in 1996 forming the group Silk Route, with schoolmate Kem Trivedi as pianist. By 1998, he released two albums Boondein and Pehchan. He entered Bollywood in 2002 with songs like Pehli Nazar Mein Dari Thi for the movie Road, then on to Khoon Chala for Rang De Basanti and Masakali for the movie Delhi -6.
Rise to Fame
His hit number Dooba Dooba from the album Boondein earned him some recognition. The album also made it to number 1 on the album chart and the songs in the album featured in Hindi, English and Pahadi in its time. Soon afterwards, the band dissolved. Mohit disappeared from the music world for a while, and then reappeared with the song Guncha for the 2006 movie Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh. However, in 2007 music director Pritam approached Mohit for the song Tum Se Hi in the movie Jab We Met, which earned him fame in Bollywood.
Soon after, a bevy of chartbusters followed in 2009, which included Tu Ne Jo Kaha for the film New York, Ye Dooriyan for Love Aaj Kal and Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai for the film Kaminey.
The song Masakali for the film Delhi-6, won Mohit a Filmfare Award for Best Male Play Back singer in 2010.This was followed with two superhit songs Bheegi Si for the movie Rajneeti and Pee Loon for Once Upon a Time in Mumbai and Tujhe Bhula Diya, for Anjaana Anjaani. His reign of superhit songs continued with Yun Hi from Tanu Weds Manu in 2011. In the same year, his songs for the movie Rockstar became anthems. This was also the year that he sang Bengali songs for the first time for the movie Sedin Dekha Hoyechilo and the movie Paglu. He followed this up with his first Tamil song Po Vee Po for the movie 3.
The year 2012 saw him get married to his close friend Prarthana Gehlot on June 29, and sing Saiyaara for the hit movie Ek Tha Tiger. Mohit's wife works with an English magazine and hails from Dehradun in Uttarakhand.
He also continues singing for cultural festivals like IIT Guwahati in February 2013, IIT Bombay, and the Star Night of the annual cultural festival, Engifest of Delhi in 2014.
