Hailed as one of the TOP 5 Best Female Punjabi Artists from the UK (Desi Blitz 2022) Sonia Panesar is a versatile independent artist, a British Asian Singer/Songwriter, specialising in Punjabi Folk, World Fusion and Spiritual Music.


Sonia has been a recording artist since the tender age of 7 yrs old and has laid down her melodious voice on well over 30 albums as a backing vocalist for well known UK Punjabi artists; Bee2, Sukshinder Shinda, Heera, Jazzy B, Alaap, Premi, Mona Singh, PDM Mohinder Bhamra and Sangeeta.


Sonia’s debut was first in the UK Bhangra industry with DJ Senator on the tracks Naina and Kulli on the album No Way Out. Her biggest success rose from being the first to cover Chitra Singh’s Charkha Mera Rangla.


Sonia has collaborated over the years with some of the finest producers across a multitude of genres; Dub giants Alpha&Omega, World Music Producers The Dhol Foundation and SWAMI, MBE Kuljit Bhamra, Djinn Choudhry, Punjabi Hit Squad, Phat Kat & Ajay Srivastav. More recently EDM DJ producer, Yomi Singh & BBC Asian Network’s 2NV.


Sonia is now seen performing live as the lead vocalist of UK’s Punjabi folk band Team Sur Sangeet and also collaborates with Flute That Groove.


Sonia’s passion for songwriting has also side-lined her singing career. Her first Hindi song Sapno Mei in collaboration with Ital Lion and Alpha& Omega, became a hit in the world of Dub.


Dil Ki Baatein was composed and written by Sonia, Performed by UK Bollywood band, The 515 Crew.

Sonia has also contributed her melodies in British Asian feature film ‘A winter of love’ track name Yaaden and also Bollywood film ‘Bulandi’ for Teri Meri Ik Jind…
